Jim Herman

Co-founder and Instructor Jim Herman is a BJJ brown belt with ten years of BJJ experience and over 30 years of martial arts training. He is a certified level 1 and 2 Gracie Jiu-Jitsu instructor, a defense tactic instructor for the Montgomery County Police Department, and holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He is a full-time police officer and a part-time coach, teaching BJJ and MMA in the Frederick area. For over 5 years, he has been a BJJ and MMA coach.

Accomplishments

Jim Herman has used his skills to compete and fight in multiple venues. He has boxed in the ring and fought in the VA state championships for kickboxing. Jim decided at a late age to step into the cage against a much younger competitor and won by guillotine in the third round. Competed in Fight 2 win 109.

The Mount is a safe place for those that want to train Jiu-jitsu or MMA. The coaches are patient, kind, they really have the passion to teach and they want to be sure you are truly understanding the class teachings without feeling rushed or flustered! My daughter has been training with Coach Jim for a couple years, she feels extremely comfortable and safe around him! He has helped her gain a lot of confidence in sparring as well! She is the reason I started the BJJ and MMA classes. The Mount offers Women's only classes that is actually taught by a woman! She is a black belt which is freaking amazing! She is a beast at her craft but she is also so great at teaching it!

The Mount offers morning classes as well that actually allows me to get some training in since most weekday evenings I am not able to make classes!

If you are looking for a forever home gym this is the place!!!
